2009 Chardonnay Special Vintage
2009 Chardonnay Special Vintage
Manor Estate Wines has developed a primary technique in the beginning stages of the production of our Chardonnay to enable the wine to age with grace. Our grapes for Chardonnay are located in Lobethal a region in the Adelaide Hills higher in latitude and incorporating more acidic soil types than in the McLaren Vale region. This produces fruit containing less sugar ideal for our aged white wines. The conditions are also cooler producing high quality fruit for white wine production. Utilisation of a specific selective French Yeast combined with enhanced cooling during fermentation produces a crisp clear unwooded delicate wine.
Tasting Note:
Crisp, clean and refreshing with inviting tropical characteristics, this wine presents a good reason for why Chardonnay is one of Australia’s most popular wine variety.
Well rounded and pale lemon in colour with delicate green tints and an aroma which leads to an explosion of harmonious fruit flavours give this wine a delicate buttery taste and refreshingly crisp, dry finish. It is best drunk chilled to take advantage of the vivacious fruit flavour.
Food Pairings:
What you want are quiet flavours—mild, subtle foods that are not too spicy, not too pungent and not too acidic. Pairing Chardonnay with foods that complement its rich, mild flavours makes the meal taste better, too. Pair Chardonnay with mild, buttery or creamy dishes which will be worth every bite. Meaty fish such as halibut, cod or shellfish, subtly flavoured poultry and pork or dishes that have a silky texture, such as risottos and cream-enhanced soups, sauces and pastas.
